Chocolate and More Chocolate For Halloween!

Eat, drink and be scary!

The 'chocolatey' 6 inch round cake was covered with liquid ganache; when ganache is in its liquid form, it can be poured over the cake. A few bars of melted ghirardelli white chocolate (that can be done using a double boiler on the stove top or it can be placed in the microwave for about 30 seconds) was swirled atop the cake. This video shows how this web look can be achieved on the cake.

The cake used in the video was bigger than our 6 inch cake. After making this design, I realized that I should have made a few changes to accommodate the smaller sized cake. In the video, the cake is divided into four quarters, using the back of a small knife to pull from the center towards the edge of the cake. I would do the same for the smaller cake, except at this point I would then go back into each quarter and then pull back into the center of the cake. If you view the video first, it would be easier to understand. (basically, with the smaller cake, there would be four pieces pulled out rather than eight pieces as directed in the video).

This is a simple design that can be used for a halloween themed event. A fondant spider would be a good addition to this cake.

Sneaked a virtual PicMonkey spider on there to get a visual on how a fondant spider can add some dimension to this cake.
