Justin Bieber Themed Cake

Baking for kids and young adults brings out the 'little kid' in me! It brings me back to the things that I loved as a child such as the Disney characters and the young celebrities that kids are fascinated with. I've had a chance to work on a minnie mouse and a mickey mouse cake and recently I worked on a Justin Bieber themed cake. What can I say; I have to keep up with 'the trends' now!

This week's cake seemed like quite a challenge and I actually had second thoughts about taking on this cake request.  But then again, I love challenges! How do I get a cake to reflect anything Justin Bieber? Well, I got to work and started my research. My search started online and there were a lot of ideas that included edible images of Justin Bieber. My search continued into my local Party City but no luck there. I figured that the edible image may be my best option therefore, I made some calls to the local cake shops, Safeways and Walmarts; but no luck there either. I did get through to a local Cold Stone Creamery though. However, after paying for an order of an edible image and waiting for quite a while in the store, I was told that I should come back  only to be eventually told that I couldn't get the image printed due to copy right issues!

So, I moved on to Plan B. We ordered a Justin Bieber cake topper online but that didn't arrive in time. What is a girl to do at a time like this? After all, a birthday girl's cake is hanging in the balance. Well, with some inspiration from cake designs online, I improvised (Plan C) and came up with this design.

It includes a microphone, a headphone, music notes, and the 'JB' initials, all made from fondant. I just hope that the birthday girl enjoyed her cake.
