Baby Ayden's Baby Shower Cake

Babies are little miracles and it's always a pleasure to welcome such wonderful bundles of joy! I had so much fun at my friend's baby shower! I'm sure that it will be a wonderful new year for this wonderful couple as they welcome their Baby Boy in the new year!

Happy New Year to All!

Woodgrain Cake Board
The board that the cake is sitting on was embossed using a woodgrain fondant embosser. Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes has a great tutorial (click the link to access the tutorial) that shows how to make fondant look like woodgrain. Please feel free to share pics if you try out this technique!

Baby Toys/Accessories
For the baby toys, I used this tutorial and I loved it! It's not in English but the video instruction is clear enough to follow. The baby blocks were made using rice krispies and covered with fondant. Other accessories include a baby blanket, a welcome banner, a heart cushion, onesies and football (he will be watching football with his daddy some day!).

Fondant Baby
The baby was made with a baby mold and this tutorial would be a great resource if you decide to make your own fondant baby!

The recipe for the fruitcake in the background can be found in this previous post.

Mummy-to-Be kept the fondant figurines as a keepsake!

Also, my friend, Mary did such an awesome job with the favors that I just had to sneak a few pics in there!

Photos Compliments of Mary Franklin!
Thanks for visiting today! Don't forget to share pics of your edible 'kreations'. Till next time, "Happy Baking!" and "Happy New Year!"

What comes to mind when you see this cake? I look forward to reading your comments!
